    Helen Marie Smith, 95, (March 8, 1924 ~ September 13, 2019) went to join her only beloved grandson Tyler John Miller on Friday, September 13, 2019.
    Helen grew up in Stanleyville and graduated from Marietta High School in 1942. She had worked for the U. S. Government under the civil service in Washington, DC, briefly worked for Viscoe in Parkersburg and Brickwede in Marietta, in 1944 worked for Remington Rand for 10 years working her way up to company cashier and also worked for Public Debt and for 22 years for Wolf Creek School District.

  • Bertie C. Voso

    Bertie C. Voso, 95, of Marietta passed away at 2:00 am, Friday, September 13, 2019, at Heartland of Marietta. She was born November 13, 1923, at Flemington, WV, a daughter of Dennis L. and Lila Sinsel Cather.
    Bertie was a teacher at Frontier Local School District for 15 years.
    On May 5, 1945, she married Joseph Voso who preceded her in death on June 11, 2006. She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son: Rebecca Stollar of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Timothy (Terri) Voso of St. Libory, Il, Barbara (Benjamin) Preston of Williamstown, WV, 7 grandchildren and 10 great

  • Karen Ann Osborne

    Karen Ann Osborne lost her battle with cancer and died at her home on September 11. She was born December 4, 1944, in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late Mary and Wallace Collins.
    She graduated from Hillsboro High School and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Miami University. Karen married her husband Edward Osborne in 1969 and celebrated their golden anniversary earlier this year. In addition to her husband she is survived by her two beloved children, Amy Osborne of Sausalito, California and David (Tara) Osborne along with her three grandchildren; Adelaide, Evangeline, and Rowan, all of St. Charles, Illinois. She is also survived by her sister Marcia of St. Petersburg, Florida, and her brother-in-law, Donald Frampton of Marietta.

    Rick Denton, 51, of Marietta passed away 7:46 pm September 10, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    He was born October 9, 1967 in Marietta to the late Theodore and Betty (McClead) Denton. Rick was a 1986 graduate of Frontier High School and loved to race gas-powered remote control cars.
    Rick is survived by his aunt and uncle Don and Judy McClead along with several cousins and many friends.

    Frances Kay Parker “”Pudge” Braverman’s nurturing spirit went on to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at her Marietta home.
    She is survived by her children: Kelly (Bob) Henthorn, Shelly (Brian) Wilfong and Ted Henthorn; step daughters: Judy, Jeanie, Joyce and Jane Eddy; sisters: Sharon (Doug) Love and Vicky (Delmore) Hendley, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who had a special place in her heart.

  • Lawrence Gilbert “Gib” Moody

     
    Lawrence Gilbert (Gib) Moody was born January 26, 1932 in Washington County Ohio to the late David and Rosa Adams Moody. He passed on September 7, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was a valedictorian graduate of Vincent High School, attended Ohio University, appointed to the US Naval Academy, and received his Chemical Engineering degree with honors from The Ohio State University in 1954.
    He married Marilyn Clara (Miller) Moody March 6, 1955. They lived in Barlow Township for 10 years, Somerville, NJ for four years, Pittsburgh, PA for five years, and moved to Marietta in 1974.
    His engineering career spanned 43 years, including time at American Cyanamide in Marietta and Willow Island, WV; Union Carbide Plastics Div. in Marietta and Bound Brook, NJ; Mobay Chemical Co. in Pittsburgh, PA; and Union Carbide Silicones (and subsequent owners) in Sistersville, WV where he retired as the Silanes Engineering Manager in 1997. He was credited with an Engineering Process Patent. He worked with a team to create major production processes in Italy and Sistersville, WV using the patented process. He and Marilyn cherished the work and relationships created during his final career years in Italy.
