David “Dave” Robert Cunningham, 71, of Williamstown, WV, passed away suddenly at his home on February 4, 2020. David had fought bravely for many years to overcome numerous medical challenges including multiple myeloma, diabetes, and heart disease.
David was born in Weston, WV on January 13, 1949 to Robert Morgan Cunningham and Mary Eloise (Peninegar) Cunningham.
David was an active participant in Boy Scouts during his youth, notably participating in The West Virginia Centennial Parade of Flags in Washington, D.C. during President Kennedy’s tenure. He served on the staff of Boy Scout Camp Mountaineer as an orienteering instructor. David achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout on May 4, 1964, receiving his pin from his parents.
Marion (Mather) Hill, 94, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Williamstown, WV passed away peacefully at her home on February 3, 2020. She was born on April 17, 1925 in Swickley, PA to Bessie and Christy Holtzapfel.
Marion had many friends and enjoyed hosting card games, camping, reading and bingo.
She is survived by her loving children George Mather (Kim), Linda Smearman, Kathy Mather (Joe); 4 grandchildren, Tammie Kerns (Mark), Heather Satterfield (Jodie), Steve Mather, Kerri Smearman (Mike); 1 sister, Lois Grub; 2 daughters-in-law, Opal Mather and Bonnie Mather; 5 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Joyce Ann Rea, 72, of Lower Salem passed away at 6:15 am, Saturday, January 25, 2020, at her home. She was born August 21, 1947, in Marietta a daughter of Charles and Marie Miller.
Joyce Ann drove school bus and was a beautician. She was sexton for Paw Paw Cemetery.
On December 28, 1987, she married Walter Rea who survives with one stepson, Thomas A. (Marie Harris) Rea of Boaz, WV; grandchildren: Aiden Harris, Andrew Rea, Angel Shafer, Louella Shafer, Trenton Klintworth; twin sister, Janet Hill, nieces, Kenny and Tammy Shafer, nephews, Terry and Todd Hill, great niece Bridget (Justin Klintworth) Shafer, mother-in-law Betty Rea.
Pearl Ann “Honey” Isner, 81, of Marietta passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at her home. She was born October 31, 1938, in Wareham, Massachusetts, a daughter of Thomas and Mabel Lutoff.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and also a member of Marietta First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and was an avid cook—Blueberry muffins and brownies. She was also a strong family member.
Her husband Arthur Max Isner, to whom she was married for 50 years, preceded her in death.
John R. Schlotterbeck, Jr. 70, of Marietta passed away at 8:30 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18,1949 in Piqua, Ohio, a son of John R. “Ray” Schlotterbeck, Sr. and Minta Ann Haney Schlotterbeck.
John was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1967. He was employed by O. Ames Company in Parkersburg as a Chrome Plating Inspector. He was a member of Norwood Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam era, a member of American Legion Post 64, District Color Guard and Sergeant at Arms, lifetime member of VFW Post 5108 serving on funeral detail and flag raising at College football games and a member of Masonic Lodge #1. Enjoyed Pioneer baseball and basketball games.
Billie F. Armstrong, 81, of Marietta passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at James Cancer Center Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 11, 1938, to Harry and Ada Weckbacher Armstrong.
He was a 1956 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He was retired from being self-employed in the excavating, oil and gas business. Bill was a 50-year member of Masterton Lodge, Lebanon, Ohio. Scottish Rites Valley of Cambridge, Aladdin Shrine Center Columbus, Ohio and Marietta Shrine Club.
Eugene “Gene” Graham, 81, of New Matamoras, OH, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. He was born on April 13, 1938 in Washington County to the late Alda Mae Graham.
Gene was a graduate of Lawrence High School in 1956. He had worked for Broughton Foods for 43 years before retiring. He was an Independence Township Trustee for 8 years and was a member of Eddy’s Ridge Church of Christ. He was a loving husband and father and liked to hunt and farm.
On December 7, 1957, he married Mary Eddy Graham who survives with children: Lugene Foutty, Brian (Kathy) Graham, Ron (Rae) Graham, Diana (Gary) Gibson, Carla (Charles) Blair, Janie (James) Wagner, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, Frances Pelton, Dora Brooks and Helen Brooks, and many cousins.
