She was a member of the 9 Mile Methodist Church in St. Marys and her grandfather wrote the hymn “Let Me Tarry Awhile at Calvary”. She married Charles R. Dennis who preceded her in death on April 10, 2013.

Geneva M. Brooks, 83, of Marietta passed away 7:40 pm October 30, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1935 in St. Mary’s, WV to Joe and Gladys (Scadden) Paynter. Geneva was a homemaker and had obtained her GED in 1994. She loved to quilt, cook, and bake, but she especially loved to take care of her family. Geneva had recently been attending First Baptist Church in Marietta.
On July 6, 1951 she married Paul F. Brooks who preceded her in death on April 14, 1993.
