Waunita Carol Ward, 93, of Marietta, Ohio, went to her Heavenly home on November 24, 2023 at Marietta Memorial Hospital as family held her hand.
Carol was born in Lawrence Township at Sitka in what is still the family home, on February 24.1930, to parents Mildred Ewing Lane LaFaber and Roe Hill LaFaber. It was in the Sitka and the close surrounding area she spent her formative years, attending Lawrence School at Dart, going to church, cultivating her love for dogs, attending 4-H, practicing the piano, fishing and running her trotline, enjoying the company of her Grandpa LaFaber and most precious, developing a close bond with her older brother Calvin.
Edna Jane Pearce, 92, of Lower Salem, OH, passed away at 11:13 pm, Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was born on October 23, 1931 in Washington County Ohio.
Edna is survived by her daughter Mary Mitchell of Amarillo, TX and her son Mark Powell and wife of Cutler, grandchildren: Jessie Powell, Justin (Cressa) Powell, great grandchildren, Austin Powell and Katie Ferguson and special friend Mark Rea.
Mildred A. Smith Edwards of Bloomfield, OH went to meet her Lord and Savior Friday, Nov. 17, 2023. Millie was born Feb. 18, 1929 in Sissonville, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph Herman and Mamie Boggess Smith.
She later married Leon Roger Edwards who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons: Michael Duane Edwards, Roger Dale Edwards (Julie), daughter-in-law Judy Edwards; grandchildren; Ian Shaine Edwards, Emily Turner (Owen) and Jarrod Daniel Edwards (Alisha); great grandchildren: Rylee Denae Edwards, Revel James Leon Turner and Maddix Elias Turner, sister-in-law Edna Smith and her children, Karen Ray and Tim Smith.
Sandra Darlene Vanoster 86, of Marietta passed away at her home in Glenwood Community on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Sandra was born on February 23, 1937, in Waverly, WV a daughter of Fred Dana Duffey and Agnes Glena Crouser Duffey. She was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1955 and had been employed by Warren’s IGA on 7th Street, Fenton Art Glass, Marietta College, owned and operated Sandy’s Plant and Gift Shop. She had been on Belpre City Council and enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, music, nature and being a mother and grandma.
Clarence E. Poole, 89, of Whipple passed away at 6:15 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Legacy of Marietta.
He was born April 1, 1934 in Marietta to Fero and Stella (Wallace) Poole. Clarence was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and been employed as a truck driver for Ferel Gas Co.
Surviving is his wife Barbara Erb Poole, sons Clarence Poole, Jr, of Florida, Terry Poole, of Willoughby, OH, daughters Linda and Laura. Also surviving are step-sons Jim Erb and Bill (Rita) Erb both of Parkersburg, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his dogs Dora and Cheese.
Richard D. “Dick” Martin, 61, of Fleming, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
He was born on August 10, 1962, in Marietta to the late Floyd Martin and Donna Zimmerman Martin of Fleming. Dick had been employed as a truck driver and carpenter.
Lyman Bruce Klintworth, 79, of Marietta passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at his home.
