He was born in Bartlett, OH to Ida M. and Lawrence A. Wittekind.  He was the devoted husband for 59 years to his wife Dorothy, who survives him. They were married June 24, 1950.

    Carl was a retired auto body mechanic and he loved old cars and auto racing himself, as well as watching his sons race.
