    Wendy Erb’s favorite Bible verse guided her every role: wife, mother and grandmother, pastor and hospital chaplain, skit writer and costume designer, poet and professional party thrower, church newsletter creator and Marietta Times correspondent.
    For those who knew her from the River City Farmers Market, she was also the prolific producer of pies, breads, cobblers, cookies, jams and jellies.
    She died Wednesday, having lived life knowing that “a merry heart doeth good” (Proverbs 17:22). She was 78.

  • Geoffrey Wade Cozzens Ritchie

    Geoffrey Wade Cozzens Ritchie, 78, of Fleming passed away 11:07 pm on February 20, 2023 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    He was born January 29, 1945 in Marietta to Richard Dean Cozzens and Maysle Glendine Ritchie Cozzens. Geoff was a 1964 graduate of Marietta High School and after graduation he joined the US Air Force where he obtained the rank of Tech Sergeant. He enjoyed traveling around the Europe while serving his country. When Geoff returned home he worked as a bartender at the Hotel Lafayette before going to work for Shell Chemical where he retired in 1998. Geoff was crazy about Corvettes and Harley-Davidsons.

  • Jennifer L. Fryman

    Jennifer L. Fryman, 76, of Vincent passed away at 6:47 pm, Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Marietta Memorial. She was born in Marietta on August 23, 1946, a daughter of Robert and Anne K (Nannie) Seyler.
    Jennifer worked at Three Sons Market. Jennifer was a devoted wife and homemaker. She loved bowling, watching her grandchildren play sports, playing wiffleball in the back yard, and spending time with her family. She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, aunt, and friend to many. On May 28, 1966, she married the love of her life, John E. Fryman, Sr.

  • Zella Lucille Clawson

    Zella Lucille Clawson, 93, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Waterview Pointe nursing home in Marietta where she was a resident. She was born August 27, 1929 in Curtis, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Ira James Clawson and Vinnie (Hecht) Clawson.
    She is survived by a daughter, Maren Beery of Marietta, Ohio, and son, Thad Beery of Stockport, Ohio, one grandson, Andrew Nicholas of Rice, Washington, and one great granddaughter, Amber Catron of Tacoma, Washington. She is also survived by two brothers, Donald and Charles Clawson.

  • Hattie Cook Bailey

    Hattie Cook Bailey, 90, of Marietta was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1932, in Buchanon County, Virginia, to the late Alden and Bessie (Boyd) Cook. She married the late Seldon Bailey on November 11, 1954 in New Mexico.
    Hattie loved starting her day reading the Bible and attending church on Sundays where she loved teaching Sunday school. She was a member of Warren Chapel United Methodist Church. She had been a Christian for over 70 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her hobbies were quilting and making pillows for her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

  • Christopher “Cody” Easter

    Christopher “Cody” Easter was born in Huntington, West Virginia on October 17, 1986.  He was born to David and Lisa Easter, Cody grew up in Indiana ,he played high school football, Cody loved music, especially the drums and guitar, even a little piano. He played drums in a band with a buddy (Matt Sumner) when he was 13. Then began playing at church in the praise band.
    Moving back to West Virginia when Cody was 16 was a hard time in his life but Cody found his passion. He tried college after graduation but decided he wanted to start his own car business. He married the love of his life, Mackenzie Suder Easter after Luke introduced them at youth and together they have successfully owned and operated Easter Brothers Preowned Cars in Vienna WV.
    Cody was involved in his brother Luke’s church and played drums for the praise band.
    Cody and Kenzie together faced many struggles with health issues but never did Cody give up, he was the strongest person and loyal to a fault.
    He loved cars and trucks and 4 wheelers and mud and trail riding and shooting guns and camping. Cody was a nature lover.
