Bryan A. Smith, 55, of Newport passed away on April 28, 2022, at his home. He was born November 3, 1966, in Newport a son of Jimmy Smith and Betty Matheny Smith. He was a construction worker.
Naomi Ann Peton, 68, of Marietta, OH passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022 after a year of battling an illness with the perseverance she carried throughout her life.
Born July 7, 1953 she was the daughter of the late Chester W. Reynolds Sr. and Garnet Reynolds. She was a preschool teacher for twenty years and loved caring for children. As a devout Christian, she was a member of Marietta Bible Center Church. Naomi was a loving person that always put her family’s needs above all. She was a caring individual full of so much energy and joy for life with a great sense of humor to match. Her soul touched many and her spirit is one that cannot be forgotten. Her favorite hobby was selling items she found at yard sales, thrifting, etc. She also loved taking trips and spending time with her sister Betty and brother-in-law Randy O’Brien.
Kathryn L. Johnson, 74, of Marietta passed away at 6:30 pm, Monday, April 18, 2022 at Barnesville Hospital.
She was born January 30, 1947 in Cutler, OH, to Lawrence and Margaret Coughenour Noland. She married Floyd Johnson who preceded her in death on October 10, 1997.
Ruth L. Wallace, 97, of Marietta passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at her home.
She was born May 3, 1924 in Moss Run a daughter of Warner and Janie Matheny Mosser. Ruth was a homemaker.
Jerry E. Schmidt went home to be with Jesus, April 12, 2022. He was born February 11, 1965 to parents Everett E. Schmidt and Wanda Dudley Schmidt who have gone on before him.

She was born on August 13, 1940 in Monroe County, to Reuben Dewey and Lettie Marie (Jones) Erb. She was employed at Lafayette Hotel, Marietta Laundry, Green Tab, Marietta AM, Frontier Local and a caregiver to many. She was a Baptist by faith and attended Parr Hill Community Church. She loved canning, cooking, family dinners, yard work and flowers. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Janet Irene Benson Grahame, 80, of Newport, OH, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:11 pm at her home. She was born March 16, 1942, in Newport to Charles and Gertrude Matheny Benson who preceded her in death.
She married the love of her life, the late Henry “Tom” Grahame, Jr. on May 28, 1960. They were married for 52 years and made their home in Newport. Janet along with Tom operated Tom’s Auto Wrecking. She ran the business even after Tom’s passing and closed in 2020 on the 50th year. She enjoyed car auctions, craft shows with her sisters, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandsons.
