  • Herman Casto Hambrick II

    Herman Casto Hambrick II died peacefully August 5, 2022 at home in Marietta, Ohio. Herman was born April 8, 1933 in Spring Hill, West Virginia, the son of Herman Casto Hambrick and Evelyn Irene Chittum. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife June.
    Herman graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV; Duke University College of Engineering with a BE in EE, and Marietta College with an Accounting Certificate. He married June on March 22, 1958 and they raised three children. He was employed by Union Carbide Corporation working at their South Charleston, WV Technical Center; the Marietta Plastics plant; the Institute, WV plant; and the Sistersville, WV plant where he retired in 1986. After working briefly at Mobay in New Martinsville, WV, Herman worked at the Marietta BP Amoco Plastics plant where he retired in 1999. He continued to work as an electrical engineer for CADD Factor and CFI Engineering until the time of his death. He was a Registered Professional Engineer.
    Herman was an active member of the Marietta First Baptist Church where he served on various boards and sang in the choir.

  • Betty Hill Coffman

     
     
    Betty Hill Coffman, age 91, born April 27, 1931 at Duncan, Jackson County, West Virginia to Estel Hill and Lurlean Harpold Hill. Died August 2, 2022 at Hospital in Marietta. She married Hugh August 23, 1953 at the Meadowdale Baptist Church, Duncan, WV.
    She graduated from Ripley High School in 1948, after having attended Gilmore Sandyville High School until it closed in 1946. She graduated from Glenville College in 1952 with a Elementary Education Degree. She taught in a one room school in Jackson County until 1952. She taught 2nd grade at Walnut Township School, Ashville, Ohio 1952 – 1958. Moved to the Tunnel area in 1958 with husband who had accepted an Ag. teacher position at the new Warren High School. Betty substitute taught locally at Fort Frye and Warren School District.

  • Lawrence “Jeffy” Franklin Dawson, Sr.

    Lawrence “Jeffy” Franklin Dawson, Sr., 93, of Marietta passed away at 8:27 am, Monday, August 1, 2022, at his home. He was born July 27, 1929, in Washington County, OH, to Lawrence K. Dawson and Cora Cox Dawson.
    Jeffy retired from Kardex. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of Sandhill United Methodist Church.

    Garland Luther Brookover, 85, of McConnelsville passed away at 4:15 am, Monday, August 1, 2022, at Highland Oaks Health Center.
    He was born January 28, 1937 in Williamstown, WV, a son of Luther and Lola Brookover. Mr. Brookover was employed at Fenton Glass in Williamstown for many years.

  • Kathleen Wagner

    Kathleen Wagner, 77, of Barlow passed away July 30, 2022 at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1945 in Lorraine, OH to Freeman Harold and Mary (McFadden) Treadway.
    On June 12, 1964 she married Richard G. Wagner who passed away on December 26, 2020.

  • Lydia Jane Hart (Keelin)

    On Friday, July 22nd, 2022 Lydia Jane Hart (Keelin) passed away at the age of 59. Lydia was born on February 3, 1963 to William and Della Keelin.
    Lydia had a passion for arts, crafts, and her beloved parrots Sammy and Mikko. She loved wading through creeks, long motorcycle rides, and playing on the beach with her grandbabies. She spent many years leading Girl Scouts and keeping basketball team scorebooks for the Lady Tigers.

  • Curt Jay Noel

    Curt Jay Noel, 60, of Marietta passed away on July 22, 2022 at Grant Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1961 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Ronald James Noel and Lyn Noel. Curt grew up in Ligonier, PA but graduated high school from Marietta in 1979. He had owned and operated Motocare in Marietta for many years. Curt treasured three things in his life most: his three children, taking care of his home, and his little red Honda Civic that he inherited from his father. He was a kind, loving, giving man who always saw the best in people. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
