Alice Marie Hartley

Alice Marie Hartley, 87, went home to be with her Lord at 2:55 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Marietta Center.

She was born in Cadiz, Ohio, a daughter of Frank McVicker and Chlora Sickles McVicker.  She was a graduate of Cadiz High School and earned her Associate Degree from Christ for the Nations.   She had been a secretary for RMD in Columbus, American Heart Association, Champion Spark Plug, Citizens Bank and a cook for Marietta Center.  She had been very involved in FGBMFI and had been a member of Valley Harvest Church.  Most important to her was her missionary work with her husband in Kenya.

On December 11, 1941, she married George Hartley who passed away after 66 years of marriage on December 11, 2007.  She is survived by children:  Linda (Brian) McDaniels of Mesquite, NV, David (Diane) Hartley of Lowell and Ellen (Russ) Nutter of Marietta; grandchildren Monica Fukame of Walnut Creek, CA, Lt. Col. JoAnna (Doug) Hupp of Witchita, KS, Angie (Scott) Lawrence of Charlotte, NC and Erin Cummings of Washington, DC; great grandchildren:  Emily Fukame, Tanner Lawrence, Tyler Lawrence and Micah Hupp, step-grandchildren:  William Nutter and Melissa Nutter of Reston, VA, and sister-in-law Helen McVicker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (November 1st) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8.  On line condolences may be sent to the family at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.
