Barbara Hockenberry Thomas

Barbara Hockenberry Thomas, 80, of Newport passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 2, 1944 at her Grandmother Smith’s home on Pot Pie Road in Newport Township to the late Earl and Phyllis Rouse. She retired from the Marietta Office of the Social Security Administration. She was Baptist by faith.

Barb is survived by her Husband William Kay Thomas, Children: Chet (Kathy) Hockenberry, Heidi (Bill) Myers and Becky (Bud) Cox; Grandchildren: Chad (Cassie Huck) Hockenberry, Kyle ( Taylor Harney) Hockenberry, Shannon (James) Surrena,
Rachel Myers, Aspen (Ivan Porter) Cox, Bailey Cox; Seven great grandchildren: Kylee, Reagen and Jackson Hockenberry; Karah, Madie, James and Richie Surrena. She is also survived by Sister, Bonnie (Bill) Hockenberry; Brother and Sister-in -Law Ed and Grace Long and nieces and nephews, Dow Hockenberry, Greg (Sheila) Long, Terri (Glen) Haines.

Predeceased by Richard Hockenberry, father of her children and husband of 50 years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 24) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Family will greet friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordhfh.com.
