Belva Ethel Strickland, 90, of Marietta, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Heartland of Marietta.

Belva was born May 13, 1928, to the late William and Edna (Harris) West, in Clendenin, West Virginia. She grew up in Lowell and Marietta. As a young woman, Belva worked at Stark County Department of Health in Canton, Ohio, and also for a Marietta veterinary clinic. She was a loving and devoted wife for 55 years before her husband’s death in 2006. Nothing brought Belva more joy than being a wife and mother. She was a long-time member of Marietta First Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; sisters, Eva West, Clara Hendershot, Dorothy Wittekind; and brother, Ronald West. Belva is survived by sons, Ted Jr. (Laura) and David; sister, Frances (Kenny) Carver; brother, Cletis West; sister-in-law, Betty Sarver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, 314 4th Street, Marietta, on March 4, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Mill Creek Road, Marietta, on March 5 at 10:30 a.m., with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell, Ohio.
