Bertha Rowell
Bertha M.Rowell, 96 of Williamstown, W.Va., died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 15, 2009.
She was born June 26,1913 in her family home in Layman, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Curtis Greenlees, and Sibyl Irene (Graham) Greenlees.
Bertha graduated from Williamstown High School in 1932. On June 14,1935, she married Daniel E. Rowell who preceded her in death on March 29,1969. She was a homemaker; at age 56 she obtained her LPN nursing license, spending many years as a private duty nurse. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and liked canning. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown, and the Hill Club.
She is survived by two sons, Rodger R. Rowell, and Thomas D. Rowell, and his wife Sandra L., both of Williamstown; daughter Janice M. and her husband James T. Robinson of Fleming, Ohio; Eight grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one nephew, Garold W. Greenlees of Marietta, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and grandson Jeffery O. Robinson, two brothers, and one sister; Chester G. Greenlees; Gilbert W. Greenlees; and Grace A. Greenlees.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday (November 20th) at McClure- Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, Marietta with Rev. William R. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery; Williamstown. Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, and one hour prior to the service.
