Betty C. Flora

Betty C. Flora, 88, former resident of Crestview Hills, KY, and Belpre, OH, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Cincinnati.

She was born on January 17, 1921, in Lowell, OH a daughter of Harry J. and Elizabeth Born Wenzel.  Betty was a graduate of Salem Liberty High School with the class of 1939.  She had been employed by the Public Debt in Parkersburg, WV and later by the Internal Revenue Service in Covington, KY, as a Personnel Manager.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.  Betty was a leader and contributor to every community she joined.  She and her husband “snowbirded” at Paradise Bay in Bradenton, FL, from 1983-200l.  She was an active member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church of Lakeside Park, KY, and formerly a member of Belpre First Methodist Church, and Eastern Star.

On August 10, 1943, Betty married Virgil H. Flora who preceded her in death on March 20, 2003.  She is survived by one son and one daughter:  V. Randall Flora and his partner Bonnie J. McMurray of Fairfield, OH, and Patricia S. Flora-Kersen and her husband Lawrence of Boonton Township, NJ; granddaughter Mackenzie L. Kersen, sister Ethel E. Newhart of Boonton (formerly of Marietta) and sister Dorothy M. Casella of Proctorville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Leona Haas and her brother Hayward (Dick) Wenzel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, at 1:30 p.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, Marietta, OH.  Burial will be in Salem Township Cemetery.  Calling hour at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alois Alzheimers Center, 70 Damon Rd.
