Betty Jane Bower

Betty Jane Bower, 96, of Marietta passed away at 11:23 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1913 at McKeesport, PA, a daughter of William and Elizabeth McMillen Carlson. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and had taught Home Economics. Betty Jane was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Marietta Garden Club and AAUW.

On November 18, 1939, she married John Bower who preceded her in death on April 2, 1996.

Four daughters survive: Linda Baugh of North Carolina, Sue (Walt) Brothers of Marietta, Anne Klein of New Jersey, Wendy Wilson of Marietta; 8 grandchildren including 2 locally: Libby Wilson Caster and Emily Brothers and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2013, at a time and place to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster Street, Marietta, OH 45750.
