Betty Jane Eddy Parker
Betty Jane Eddy Parker of Newport passed away Monday, May 4, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Elizabeth Adams Eddy. She attended Newport schools.
Betty was a caring and devoted mother and homemaker for 86 years and then worked at Kardex in later years. She enjoyed and shared all the happy time in the lives of her family and cried with them in times of sorrow. She made rugs on the loom she inherited from her mother in years gone by and she also enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking, crocheting and various other crafts. She was famous at family gatherings for her baked beans….she will always be remembered, loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
She met William C. Parker at the Colony Theatre and they married on April 27, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Betty is survived by her children: Shirley Gene Holshu, Mary Louise (Leslie) Patterson, Vikki Swartz, William Patrick “Pat” Parker and Robert Eugene “Bob” Parker all of Marietta; grandchildren: Patty (Roger) Spencer, Henry (Tammy) Holshu, Jody (Roger) Barnhart, Todd Patterson, Troy, Belinda and Lucinda Swartz, William and Jeffery Parker, Brandy Hardman; 10 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers: Richard (Marge) Eddy, Wayne (Rita) Eddy, Joseph Eddy, Ford Eddy, Jerry Eddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children: Carol Sue Diddle, Deborah Kay Riggs, Richard Clifford Parker; brothers: Clarence, Kenneth, William, Stanley and Forrest Eddy and sister Virginia Eddy Waters.
