Betty Lou Broome

Betty Lou Broome, 85, of Lowell passed away at 12:24 pm, Friday, May 29, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born January 21, 1935, in Washington County to Forest and Blondina Phillips Hockenberry.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of Lower Paw Paw Church of Christ.

On June 11, 1955, she married Dean Broome who survives with a son and a daughter, Larry (Debbie) Broome of Londonberry, OH and Linda (Kenny) Mendenhall of Lowell; 6 grandchildren: Ginger McConnell, Justin Moore, Josh Broome, Valerie Gustrafson, Shaun Stone, Jeff Mendenhall; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Barbara Gerber and sister-in-law Shirley Hockenberry and brother-in-law Dean Gerber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters, Kay Moore and Cheryl Ayers, stepmother, Violet Hockenberry, 2 grandchildren, Ryan Moore and Dusty Morganstern, daughter-in-law Deborah Broome, 2 brothers, Walter and Ronnie Hockenberry, sister Shirley Sarver.

Graveside services will be held on Monday (June 1) at 3:00 pm in Salem Township Cemetery. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
