Betty Magers
Betty Magers, 93, passed away Wednesday (April 11, 2012) in Marietta.
She was born April 10, 1919, in McMechen, West Virginia, the daughter of Harry and Cora Martin McCracken. She attended schools in Glen Easton and Cameron, West Virginia. On February 4,1939, she married Carl Franklin Magers and they lived in Cameron and later Canton, Ohio, before making their home in Marietta in 1945. She was a member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ. Her joys in life were her family, church family, friends, flower gardening, reading and her pets. She volunteered at Marietta Memorial Hospital for several years
She is survived by two sons, Carl (Virginia) Magers and Harry (Carolyn) Magers; and one daughter Pat (Alan) Ralston. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Kidd, Mark (Brenda) Magers, Brant (Teri) Magers, Jessica Magers, Andrea Adkins, Lance (Kate) Ralston, and Seth (Erica) Ralston; and seven great-grandchildren, Aidan and Madison Kidd, Austin Magers, Kelsey Adkins, Carter Magers, Molly and Abigail Ralston; one sister, Nora Ellen Moore, and one brother, Victor (Mary) McCracken; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Franklin Magers, three brothers, Charles, Arlie and Harry McCracken; and two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Adkins and Rebecca Ralston.
Friends will be received at the McClure-Shafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-8. Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 16) at 10:30 am at the funeral home with J. D. Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
