Billy Lewis VanWey
Billy Lewis VanWey, 72, of Marietta, passed away at 2:48 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 15, 1939, in Marietta a son of Robert B. VanWey and Lavina Boothby VanWey Singer. He was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 168 and retired from Connex.
On July 26, 1958, he married Julie Diane Britton who survives with one son and four daughters: Cheryl (Darrell Sciance) of Marietta, Kathleen (Frank II) Schneider of Reno, Tammy (Bobby) Shuman of Belpre, Lisa (Danny) Lemley of Vincent, William VanWey of Marietta; grandchildren: Amy Savage, Aaron Schnieder, Amanda (Kent) Constable, Danielle VanWey, Brian Scott Myers, Linda Sciance, Madison Shuman; great grandchildren: Tyler Schneider, Alexander Schneider, Brandi Savage, Donavon Wheeler, Kyleigh Constable, Arrianna VanWey. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen (James) Higgins of Marietta, brother Clifford VanWey of Clarksville, TN, adopted sister Helen (Max) Seyfried of Waverly, OH, stepfather Robert Singer and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brian Edward VanWey, daughter-in-law Kim Burton-VanWey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday (March 29) at Pinehurst Christian Church with Dennis Frary officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Bank Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.
