Burel L. Wright

Burel L. Wright, 79, of Marietta, passed away at 6:34 am on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 9, 1930, in Wood County, West Virginia, a son of Oscil and Ammie Williams Wright.  Burel was retired from Stowe’s Truck & Equipment after 37 years.  He was a veteran of USAF serving 4 years, attended Wood County Schools and was a member of Putnam Congregational Church.  He enjoyed bass fishing, camping and gardening and being with his family and friends.

On August 12, 1956, he married Shirley Bradley who survives with 4 sisters:  Geneva Ott, Betty Full, Patty Burdette and Shirley Stilgenbauer and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jay Jeffrey Wright, and 3 brothers:  Don, Glen and Bill Wright.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 18th) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor David Jackson officiating.  Burial will be in Putnam Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
