Carl Jones
Carl Jones, of Concord, N.C., formerly of Marietta, Ohio, passed away of a long illness on Tuesday (Sept. 8, 2009).
Carl was a U.S. Army and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a longstanding member of the American Legion Post 64 of Marietta, Ohio.
Carl was a retired auto body mechanic and he loved old cars and auto racing himself, as well as watching his sons race.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Jones; two sons, Jeremy and Kevin Jones of Concord, N.C.; daughter, Lisa of New Jersey; granddaughter, Destiny Jones of Concord, N.C.; brother, Emmet "Buck" Jones of Medina, Ohio; brother, Larry Jones and wife, Sandy, of West Chester, Pa.; sister, Lola Tebay and husband, Bob, of Marietta, Ohio; sister, Betty Kinzer and husband, Jim, of Winfield, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert, and his mother, Norma Jones of Marietta, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 15, 2009) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
