Carl W. Dishong

Carl W. Dishong, 87, of Reno, OH, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18 at his home after a long illness .He was born on April 20, 1926, to William and Iva Dishong. He was born in New Straitsville, Oh and resided in Reno, OH. Carl was a WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific theatre. He was a meat cutter by trade and meat Manager of the Big Bear store and retired after 25 years. After retirement, he became an avid collector of antiques. He was a Farrier and a Blacksmith and was a member of the ABANA, SOFA, and ABA Blacksmith associations. He was a lifetime member of both the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of the Valley of Columbus and The Grand Lodge of F & AM of Ohio in New Straitsville, Ohio.

 
On Oct 18, 1953, he married Joanne Pierce, who survives with 2 daughters and 3 sons: Jan Dishong, Linda Greathouse, Carl Dishong Jr. (Mel), Jonathon Dishong (Darlene), and Dean Dishong (Brenda), five Grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren   
 
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Aug. 22) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Linda Steelman officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with military rites. A Masonic service will be held at 8 pm Wednesday evening.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday after 2:00 with family present 2-4 & 6-8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
