Carolyn Jones Hobensack

Carolyn Jones Hobensack, 88, of Marietta, passed away on Saturday, (June 4, 2011) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 6, 1922, in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio, at home, a daughter of the late Robert Hanna and Edith Dixon Jones.

Carolyn graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1939, and worked for the War Dept as a teletype operator.  In 1946 she graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio.  She worked for 45 years in nursing including St. Francis Hospital and a long time city health nurse in Marietta, Ohio.  Upon retirement she cared for elderly patients in her home and at age 80 she worked for Comfort Keepers for several years.  She delivered Franciscan meals for twenty plus years.  Carolyn was a master of recycling and an avid game player.

Carolyn married Ralph Stephen Hobensack November 1, 1945, who preceded her in death.  She is survived by four children, Holly Poulson (Jon), Sally Hobensack (Ken Maynard), Valerie Hobensack (John Farmer) and Stephen Hobensack (Susan).  Eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchilden, two step-grandchildren , brothers Mason (Alice) Jones of Dayton Ohio and Jim Jones of Marion, Ohio survive.  Also surviving is brother-in-law Corwin (Treda) Hobensack of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Carolyn was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Services will be at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Don Archer officiating.   Visitation begins 4 p.m.   Graveside services will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Concord Church Cemetery in Londonderry, Ohio at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers Carolyn requested friends and family to do a random act of kindness.
