Charles D. “Chuck” Hilverding

Charles D. "Chuck" Hilverding, 79, of Marietta, passed away at 10:29 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 22, 2011) at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was born on Sept. 18, 1932, a son of Harley and Lona Smith Hilverding. Chuck was employed for over 35 years as a truck driver for R. O. Wetz. He was a graduate of Salem Liberty High School, Class of 1950.

On Aug. 28, 1994, he married Helen Streight who survives with five sons and three daughters: Mike Hilverding of Detroit, Mich., Greg Hilverding of Jacksonville, N.C., Tom Hilverding of Bermuda, John Hilverding of Texas, Donald Hilverding, Patti Crosier of Jackson, Ohio, Debbie Hilverding of Colorado, Beth Hilverding of Marietta; three step children, James Douglas Streight, Helen Diane Sullivan both of Marietta and Brenda Smith; a number of grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also one brother and four sisters, Richard Lee and Nancy, Kay and Max, Ruth Ann and Larry, Christina and Donna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Harold Joseph Streight; and brother, Donald; and sisters, Wilma Jean, Rosemary and Jeanette.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, (Dec. 28) at 11 a.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Zane Kesselring officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Messages of sympathy may be sent at: www.mslfuneralhome.com.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the funeral home to help with his funeral expenses.
