Charles William Ingram

Charles William Ingram, 72, of Marietta, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 25, 2012.  He was born January 25, 1940, in Marietta, to Charles Clifford and Esther Reinwald Ingram.  He was educated in the Marietta Schools and graduated in 1960 and was a charter member of the Class of 1961 at Ohio Valley College.

Chuck was employed at American Cyanamid American Home Products, Roche at Willow Island for 34 years retiring in 1999.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was active as a volunteer on the telephone at “Crisis Hotline”, Boy Scouts, Hi Y adviser and belonged to the Marietta Y’s Men Club serving as Treasurer, 3 times as club President.  He was also chairman of the Mid-East Regional Convention made up of OH, MI, WV, KY, and was also Regional  Director Governor of the International Y’s  Mens Club; Mid-East Service Director of World Mission; Youth Educational Exchange Program bulletin editor; and served on the budget committee.   He served 2 terms on the Marietta Family Y.M.C.A. Board of Directors, served 3 terms on the International Board of Directors on the Missions and Ethics committees.  He enjoyed yard work, especially his roses, feeding the birds, reading, listening to Scottish and Irish music and was an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams.
In 1960 he married Shirley Biehl who survives with 2 daughters, Catherine (Scott) Reynolds of Fleming and Christine (Vince) Post III of Parkersburg, WV.  He has one grandson, Vincent John Post IV of Parkersburg and sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Jerry Miller and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Abiding with Charles’s wishes, he has been cremated.   A memorial service will be held on Friday (June  29) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Don Archer and Chaplain Robert Sinnett officiating.  The family will greet friends before the service from 1:00 until 2:00.  Contributions in Chuck’s memory made be made to:  Y’s Trust Fund for Youth Membership, c/o Gary Schoolcraft, 612 Washington St, Marietta, OH 45750 or Marietta Memorial Hospice Fund, 450 Pike Street, Suite I1, Marietta, OH 45750.
