Creel L. Carpenter

Creel L. Carpenter, 86, of Marietta went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  He was born on November 19, 1925, at Marietta a son of Mason G. and Lola M. McGilton Carpenter. He owned and operated his  business C. L. Carpenter Oil and Water Well Drilling.  He was a member of the Marietta Bible Center Church.  Creel was in the U. S. Navy during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre serving in Papua New Guinea.  He enjoyed fishing and music.  He loved the Lord and loved to sing Christian music and play his banjo.

He was married to Zettie Z. Miller who preceded him in death.  He and his wife raised 5 children:  David K. (Ruth) Carpenter, twin daughters Carolyn S. Carpenter (now deceased) and Marolyn (David) Delancey, Barbara Carpenter and Earl Edward Carpenter.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one sister Virginia Klintworth.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter and 7 brothers and sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday (November 16) at Marietta Bible Center with Pastor Myron Guiler officiating.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Marietta Bible Center.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
