Curtis Lew Dehmlow, M.D., age 80, passed away on Saturday evening, August 7, at his home in Marietta, surrounded by his children. He survived his beloved wife, Marilyn, by four months.

He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana prior to completing his Doctor of Medicine at the same institution in 1966. He interned at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, followed by his residency and cardiology fellowship at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On July 18, 1964, he married Marilyn Taylor of Flushing, OH. From September 18, 1967 to September 15, 1968, he served in the United States Army during the war in Vietnam. He was Battalion surgeon in the 20th Engineer Battalion of the 18th Engineer Brigade at Pleiku. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

In 1972, the family moved to Marietta, Ohio, where he started his private practice and was affiliated with Marietta Memorial Hospital as the first Internal Medicine Specialist in the area. For 45 years, he served Marietta and the surrounding communities. His commitment to and compassion for his patients was evident. In his spare time, he enjoyed working outside on his farm, where he enjoyed wood-working and gardening. He also was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Another passion was his love for classical music, attending Cleveland Symphony Orchestra concerts when time allowed. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling and taking road trips. His children are forever blessed by the unconditional love and dedication he showed as a father and husband. His influence will live on in each of his children and grandchildren. His faith in Jesus Christ, and devotion to his wife and children, were of prime importance in his daily living.
