D. Jean Jones

D. Jean Jones, 97, of Marietta, OH, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 1, 1928, on the family farm in Barlow to Frank Hayes Proctor and Grace Deming Proctor. Jean married Robert F. Jones on January 29, 1950. Bob preceded her in death on October 2010.

Jean is survived by one son, Richard Jones (Robbi) of York, SC; three daughters: Mary Anne Guinn (Frank), Barbara Peery (Brady) and Carol Jones all of Marietta. Five grandchildren: Amanda Herb (Brandon), Chris Guinn (Claire), Ross Peery (Amy), Tyler Peery (Anna), and Ashley Farquhar (Adam). Ten great grandchildren: Addison, Aidan and Avery Herb, June and Hank Farquhar, River and Faye Peery, Emma Peery and Charlotte and Calvin Guinn. Jean is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Ann Paskalides of Hernando, FL and Sheila Thomas of New Holland, PA and one brother, Joe Proctor (Barb) of Barlow.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Adamson and brother, Richard Proctor.

Jean graduated from Barlow Vincent High School in 1946 and was a 1949 graduate of White Cross Hospital School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse in 1950.

Jean was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Susanna Circle. She was a volunteer at Harmar and Phillips Schools and served on the Woman’s Home Board as well as the Betsey Mills Girls Board. She was also a 4-H advisor for several years. She enjoyed participating in the lives of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As per Jean’s wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of her life will be held at the Barlow family farm at a later date.
