Darlyn Eileen Nye Wenzel

Darlyn Eileen Nye Wenzel, 74, of Marietta, passed on Sunday (Nov. 13, 2011) at Heartland of Marietta.

She was born on March 5, 1937, to Carl H. and Loella Grosz Nye in Marietta. A 1955 MHS graduate, she'd worked at Rich Loaf Bakery office, Penney's store clerk, Avon, Harts cashier. She grew up an active member in the First Baptist Church, Harmar Hill Cub Scout den mother, and a member of Marietta Evening Lions Club. Her pride was watching her sons play sports from little on through college.

Darlyn married Paul Richard Wenzel Oct. 16, 1955, the love of her life, and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. He survives with two sons, David Carl (Amanda) of Beckley, W.Va. and Daryl Paul (Lisa) of Hillard; three grandchildren, Derek of Vienna, Brittany and Cassidy of Hilliard; three stepgrandsons; a sister, Truda (Lloyd) Hartshorn of Marietta.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Nov. 16) at 10:30 a.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Lloyd Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
