David Buchanan

David Buchanan, 81, of Marietta passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, at his home. He was born July 26, 1937, in Lower Salem, OH, a son of the late Oather Buchanan and Mary Hallett Buchanan.

Dave attended Lower Salem High School and served in the Army Reserve. He worked as a lineman for the IBEW and after his retirement he carried newspapers for The Marietta Times. He enjoyed working, the outdoors, camping, traveling, and fishing. He was a member of 1823 Moose Lodge and volunteered at the Recycling Center and was active at O’Neil Center. He never met a stranger.

On August 15, 1958, he married Margaret Gukert who passed away on January 27, 2016. Surviving are his children, Terry (Chris) Buchanan, JR Buchanan, and Kim Buchanan; grandchildren, Chelsea (Tim) Patterson and Ryan Buchanan. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Dan (Ila) Buchanan, Linda (Jim) Boyce, Larry (Donna) Buchanan, and Jean Goujan.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (Nov. 12) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Lou Verdi officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Township Cemetery.
