David “Dave” Paxton

David “Dave” Paxton, 76, of Newport passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1942, in Walton, WV, a son of Willis Owen Paxton and Dorothy Eloise Looney Paxton.

Dave attended Walton High School and graduate from Lower Salem High School in 1962. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Dave was employed as a truck driver for Haessly Lumber and as a manager for Inland Wood Products for 39 ½ years. He enjoyed working on cars and mowing the yard, but loved going to auctions and playing softball. He attended First Presbyterian Church of New Matamoras.

On July 3, 1968, he married Carol Noland (they were together over 50 years). Carol survives with his sisters, Nancy Haynes, Betty Smith and Katie Thompson, several nieces and nephews and his cats: Kiki, Tom and Mama Patches. He was preceded in death by his brother Rodney Paxton and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, (Sept. 13) at 1:30 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in Newport Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8. Messages of condolences may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
