Donald Earl Young, Sr.
Donald Earl Young, Sr., 68, of Marietta passed away at 3:05 pm, Thursday, February 4, 2016, at his home. He was born June 9, 1947, in Marietta a son of William and Virginia Mugrage Young.
Don had been employed at Washington-Morgan Community Action and later transported veterans to their medical appointments through the Veteran’s Service Office. He proudly served his country in Vietnam, after his enlistment time in the army he was in the reserves for several years. He was a member of the Celebration Center of Marietta and a member of American Legion Post 64 and lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 5108.
On December 12, 1991, he married his best friend and love of his life, Sherry Mahoney who survives with their son and daughter, Sue Masters of Marietta and Donald (Angel) Young of Woodsfield; grandchildren: Richard Warner, Natasha Young, Randall Young, Donald E. (Trae) Young III. He is also survived with 3 brothers and 3 sisters: William (Olga) Young, Larry (Patricia) Young, John Young, Becky Shumar, Susan (Barry) Barnes, Barbara Mellon, sister-in-law Helen “Sis” Young and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son John Joby Stone and brother Ken Young.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (Feb. 8) at 11:00 am at the Celebration Center of Marietta, 822 Front Street with Pastor Gordie Deer officiating. Burial will be in Rainbow Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the Celebration Center on Monday from 9:00 until the time of the service.
