Donald L. Swaney

Donald Lee Swaney, 87, of Dart passed away at 6:02 pm. Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at The Arbors of Marietta. He was born October 23, 1931, in Marietta a son of Floyd Allen Swaney and Roxie Louise Dennis Swaney.

He was employed as a senior process engineer at B. F. Goodrich and retired in 1988. He was a graduate of Marietta College Class of 1959 and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a life member of NRA, American Legion Post 64, and an officer and coach for Marietta Bantam Baseball. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoyed antiquing with his wife, Betty and watching grandchildren in sporting events.

On August 1, 1951, he married Betty Lou Whitlatch who survives with 4 sons: Donald (Ellen) Swaney, Jr. of Marietta, Charles Swaney of Marietta, Michael (Cheryl) Swaney of Marietta and Mark Swaney (Kerri) of Marietta; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Larry Swaney of Wadsworth, OH and sister Pamela (Tim) Hughes of Mt. Vernon, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Freda Hoff Delong, step brother Tom Delong and step sister Barbara Delong Parlin.

The family would like to thank the Staff of The Arbors of Marietta and Marietta Home Hospice for the care given Don.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (Feb. 22) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park.
