Dorothy V. Edgar

Dorothy V. Edgar, 87, of New Matamoras went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:30 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at The Arbors of Marietta.

She was born on October 6, 1922, in Washington County, Ohio, to Howard and Nettie Burkhart Mendenhall.  Dorothy was employed by B. F. Goodrich for 30 years, retiring in 1980.  She was a member of Deucher Baptist Church  and Independence Township Senior Citizens.  She enjoyed quilting.         

On December 8, 1945, she married John Edgar who preceded her in death on September  28, 1986.
Two daughters survive:  Carolyn Douglas of Marietta and Ann (Tim) Carrothers of Newport; 4 grandchildren:  Curtis (Teresa) Carrothers, Michael Douglas, Michelle (J.D.) Secrest, and Alicia (Rob) Moat; great grandchildren:  Brent, Manda, Skyler, Michaela, Lakyn, Landyn, Caitlin, Micaela.  Also surviving is her sister Thelma Skinner and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son-in-law Jim Douglas, 2 brothers, Richard and Calvin Mendenhall, and sister Mary Elizabeth Wiley.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (September 14th) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Ivan Smitley officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral after 2:00 pm on Monday
