Elah L. Cassady

Elah L. Rose Woods Cassady, 97, of Marietta passed away at 5:07am, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born November 20, 1920, in Williamstown to George Thelbert and Losha M. Hively Rose.

Elah was a housewife and also employed at Richardson Printing. She was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Elah was a member of Senior Citizens, Church Ladies Organization, member of Marietta Church of God and enjoyed making quilts for veterans and infants.

On February 26, 1945, she married Elvin M. Woods who preceded her in death on August 28, 1974. Four sons and 2 daughters survive: Carol Masters of Marietta, Carl (Audrey) Woods of Boliver, MO, Larry B. (Rosemary) Woods of Marietta, Gilbert W. (Cynthia) Woods of Stanleyville, Sandra (Gale) Lang of Churchtown, Deane (Janice) Woods of Marietta; 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

She later married Wilbur Cassady who preceded her in death of November 30, 1995. Three stepsons survive this marriage: Fred Cassady, Melvin Cassady and Gary Cassady. She is also survived by good friend and neighbor Helen Perry and many others. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Brant Masters and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (June 8) at 11:00 am at the Marietta Church of God with Pastor Robert Sinnett officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Thursday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 and at the church on Friday one hour before the service.
