Eleanor M. Sandford
Eleanor M. Sandford, 93, of Reno, left her earthly home to meet Jesus on Wednesday, August 29, 2012
She was born on December 24, 1918 at Cornerville, a daughter of Lee L. and Lucy Lemley Ewing. She graduated from Marietta High School, Class of 1936.
Eleanor was an active member of the Chapel on The Hill, served as Secretary for many years and organized the Women’s Group, “The Chapelettes” and was president of the group for 15 years. She also was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Choir. She was very active member in the Augusta Rebekah Lode #272 in Marietta having received the “Delcaration of Chivalry” (highest honor of Oddfellowship) in 1958.
On April 29, 1939, she was married Herbert H. Sandford and they celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary together before his death.
Eleanor is survived by their son, Elmer Lee Sandford and his wife Laura, grandson, Travis Lee Sandford and wife Tracy, granddaughter Heather Sandford Felton and husand Tim; 2 great granddaughters, Lyndsey Sandford and Irina Felton , great grandson Joshuah Sandford and cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert on Nov. 25, 2002, grandson Bryan Heath Sandford; 2 brothers, Gilbert C. Ewing and Clarence R. Ewing; sister Virginia Richardson and brother-in-law Robert Richardson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (Aug, 31) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Home with interment following at East Lawn Memorial Park.
