Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Starr
Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Starr, 82, of Marietta passed away at 12:40am on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at The Arbors. She was born on March 22, 1931, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of Andrew and Catherine Yaremko Kachovee.
On October 10, 1953, she married William Starr who survives with 3 daughters: Sandra Starr (Brad Burke) of Marietta, Karen (Mark) Stewart of Marietta, Barbara (Nick) Roberts of Belpre; 7 granddaughters: Robin Stewart (Simon Diki), Jennifer Stewart, Amy (Keith) Huck, Katie Starr, Emily, Kayla and Leah Roberts; 3 great grandchildren: Cannon and Greyson Huck and Maya Diki. She is also survived by her sister Mary Jane Saylors of New Mexico, her Aunt Mary Crum of Caldwell, OH and several cousins.
Betty was 1949 graduate of Belle Valley High School, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 64, VFW Post 5108 Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Moose, OCCL, and a former Girl Scout leader. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (June 15) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Hill of the Grace Baptist Church in Parkersburg officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5:00 pm on Friday with family from 5-8.
