Ernest Steven “Steve” Wheaton
Ernest Steven “Steve” Wheaton, 63, of Marietta, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on March 16, 1950, in Marietta, a son of Ernest and Joretta Payne Wheaton.
He was a member of Moss Run Community Church and a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1968. Steve was a U.S. Marine veteran and served in the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5108. He loved baseball, especially Cleveland Indians.
On May 2, 1974, he married Karen Westbrook Wheaton who survives with one son, Robert M. “Bobby” Wheaton; his mother Joretta Wheaton Reynolds; and sister, Stefanie (Don) Arnold all of Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest M. Wheaton; brother Robert K. Wheaton and grandparents Warren and Mildred Wheaton and George and Fern Payne; step grandfather Wilfred “Salty” Varner and stepfather Chester Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (May 17) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Smith officiating with full military rites.
