Esther L. Adams

Esther L. Adams, 84, of Marietta, passed away at 8:15 am on Monday, March 28, 2011, at Marietta Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on January 19, 1927, in Washington County, Ohio, to Howard and Jessie Flowers Sciance.  At the age of 13, she worked at Pfaff’s Bakery and later became a homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking, baking for her family and gardening.  Esther was a member of the Warren Chapel United Methodist Church.

On October 14, 1944, she married Earl V. Adams who preceded her in death.

She is survived by 1 daughter and 2 sons:  Donna (Sid) Patterson of Fleming, Robert (Patty) Adams of Florida, Larry Adams of Watertown; grandchildren:  Sherri Patterson, Andy (Amy) Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Michelle (Dan) Hannen, Melissa Adams, Bobby Adams, Chris (Anita) Adams, Kelly (Tom) Byrne, Brian (Stacy) Adams; 19 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 4 step children:  Earl (Avis) Adams, Ed (Janet) Adams, Erroll (June) Adams, Rosalea Knotts; 2 sisters and 1 brother:  Ilene Schwendeman, Patricia Denton and Dick Sciance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 daughters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 31) at 2:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in Warren Chapel Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.  .
