Eugene “Gene” Parker

Eugene “Gene” Parker, 87, of Marietta passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at his home.  He was born on April 21, 1924, in Cincinnati, OH, a son of Eugene Parker, Sr. and Mabel Mayes Parker.    Gene had been a minister at large at Lawrence and Deucher Baptist Churches later moving to Deucher Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of Army Air Corps serving during WWII and was a prisoner of war for 1 year.

On April 27, 1946, he married Ruth Elaine Goehle who preceded him in death on January 5, 2005.

Gene is survived by 1 son, Philip (Kathleen) Parker of Marietta, granddaughter Jasmine Parker of Philadelphia, stepdaughter Sandra Kordenbrock of Pahrump, NV, and brother E. Donald Parker of Cincinnati.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, stepson William Edward Parker, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday  (Jan. 26) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial to be at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati at the convenience of the family.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8.
