Floyd Clarence Berg

Floyd Clarence BergFloyd Clarence Berg, 87, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday evening (Nov. 22) at the Harmar Place Nursing Facility.

He was one of seven sons born to Casper and Helen Berg, (nee Weber), on March 31, 1924, in Lowell, Ohio.

From 1943 to 1946, Floyd served in the United States Army as part of the 475th Infantry, operating in the Asian-Pacific theater. His regiment was dubbed the Mars Task Force, responsible for working with the Chinese to open up the Burma Road in 1945.

Upon his return from service, Floyd married Anita Weyrich on June 29, 1946. The two remained married for over 50 years until Anita's death in 2002. The couple had one daughter, Judy Hollback, all three lifelong residents of Marietta.

Floyd worked for the B.F. Goodrich Company, retiring after 38 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, and a dedicated grandparent.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 28) at the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Harmar Place, in care of The Haven.
