Fred Dean Berga
Fred Dean Berga, 86, of Marietta passed away at 6:53am on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Harmar Place. He was born on June 10, 1927, at Newport a son of Fred and Myrtle Mendenhall Berga.
Fred retired from B. F. Goodrich after 39 years and was a member of Newport Baptist Church and attended River of Life Assembly of God. He was a veteran of U. S. Marine Corp, American Legion Post and enjoyed golfing, bowling and NASCAR.
He married Thelma Matheny who preceded him in death and later married Ruth Cline Hayhurst who survives with 4 stepchildren: Christina (Greg) Benson, Karen Hayhurst both of Marietta, David (Beth) Hayhurst, Retired USMC of Missouri, Sandra (Tom) Davies of Vienna, WV; 6 grandchildren: Angela Dennis (Jeff Brookover), Michael Sillaman, Annie Davies, Ellen Davies, Wesley Hayhurst, Keith Hayhurst; great grandchildren: Aleda, Jessica, Mary Elizabeth, Pierce, Sidney; great, great grandchild Landan Olcott. brother-in-law Bob Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday (Aug. 31) at Newport Baptist Church where friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 until the hour of the service.
