Gale L. Bartmess
Gale L. Bartmess, 98, of Marietta passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the home of his son, John.
He was born on February 15, 1925, in Washington County, Ohio a son of John and Bertha Shook Bartmess. He had been employed at Broughton Dairy, retiring after 48 years. He was a member of Eddy’s Ridge Church of Christ.
On April 20, 1948, he married Lucille Westbrook who preceded him in death on April 24, 2009. He is survived by his son John (Natalie) Bartmess of Parkersburg and his daughter Diane Griffin of Marietta; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; his brother Richard (Carolyn) Bartmess and their son Phillip and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, his daughter, 2 sons-in-law and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 31) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Tim Fleeman officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Cemetery.
