Gale W. Hupp

Gale W. Hupp, 86, of Marietta went to be with his Lord on Monday April 8, 2013 at Harmar Place after a short illness.  He was born March 21, 1927, at Williamstown, WV, a son of Arius W. and Ada B. Lauderman Hupp.  He and his wife Jerrie Lee Wright Hupp accepted the Lord on the same day, were baptized together at Grace Gospel Church by the Reverend Ralph Yarnell and were united in marriage on February 18, 1955.  She preceded him in death on June 4, 2006.

He attended the Little Muskingum Congregational Church; also he supported and fellowshipped in Christ through the ministry of his life long friend Herb Roush. Gale was a wartime service honorary 2002 graduate of Marietta High School. As a veteran of the US Army during World War II, he served in Italy.  He was a member Millwright Union #1755.  In 1963, he and his wife opened the Hupp Maytag Store and later owned and operated Hupp Furniture Store until 1984.  He enjoyed woodworking and operated Hadley Hollow Chair Works in his retirement.  
 
He is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Tara) Hupp and Rodney (Michele) Hupp all of Marietta; 2 daughters, Yolanda (Brian) Smith of Marietta and Michelle (David) Molnar of Savannah, GA; 10 grandchildren:  Courtney, Nathaniel, Jacob and Clayton Hupp, Brandon, Miranda and Caleb Smith and Coleman Hupp all of Marietta, Matthew and Sarah Molnar of Savannah, GA; great granddaughter Alexis Smith.  Additionally Gale is survived by his very special friend Imogene Platounarius.   
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday (April 11) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
