Geneva M. Brooks

Geneva M. Brooks, 83, of Marietta passed away 7:40 pm October 30, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1935 in St. Mary’s, WV to Joe and Gladys (Scadden) Paynter. Geneva was a homemaker and had obtained her GED in 1994. She loved to quilt, cook, and bake, but she especially loved to take care of her family. Geneva had recently been attending First Baptist Church in Marietta.

On July 6, 1951 she married Paul F. Brooks who preceded her in death on April 14, 1993.

Surviving are her children: Dottie Clough (Phillip), Carol Page (Keith), Paula Calhoun (John), Barbara Board, Betty Hanes (Mike), Paul Brooks, Jr. (Stephanie), John Brooks, and Tammy LaBarre (Bill). Geneva is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and sisters Jo Ann Farnsworth of Alliance, OH and Irene McKnight of St. Marys, WV.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Tommy Paynter, a sister Gladys Parsons, and son-in-laws Ray Westfall and Mark Board.

Funeral services will be held 10am, Saturday, November 3rd at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with Pastor Chad Mugrage officiating. Burial will follow in Eddy’s Ridge Cemetery.
