H. Dean McCain

H. Dean McCain, 78, of Marietta passed away after an extended illness on Monday (June 15, 2009) at his home in the loving care of his wife of 60 years.

He was born September 6, 1930 in Washington County, a son of the late Harvey and Clara McCain. Dean was an inspector for Elger Company for many years and later enjoyed farming. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and many family activities.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Hester Lucinda Erb McCain. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Dale (Karen) McCain, and two daughters, Kathleen (Gary) Boggs, and Deana (James) Barnes. He had 11 grandchildren, Jamey (Jill) Barnes, Melissa (Bob) Hibbard, Andrea (Mitch) Davis, Cara (James) Love, Lisa (Zach) Michael, Tiffany Barnes, Erin Boggs, Amanda (Steve) Herron, Alishia Barnes, Justin Barnes, Clinton Barnes and 17 great-grandchildren, Steven, Jordan and Alexandrea Herron, Alex and Reed Ware, Ashton and McKinley Michael, Cameron and Collin Davis, Emily Floyd, Kylie and Allison Love, David Joseph and Robert Hibbard, Colton and Jacey Barnes, and Sierra Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one infant son, Kenneth Dean McCain, three brothers, Pearl, Harry and Robert, and one sister, Nettie Totman Turk.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 19, 2009 at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rake Cemetary. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning on Thursday with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
