Harley Edward Thomas
Harley Edward Thomas, 92 of Columbus, Ohio passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at The Laurels of Norworth in Worthington, Ohio.
He was born April 3, 1923 in Lower Salem, Ohio, son of the late Walter & Ida (Baker) Thomas.
He graduated from Lower Salem HS in 1941, served his country as a Sergeant in the US army in WWII and was awarded the Silver Star. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Margaret Ullman Thomas. Also preceded in death by his brother Ernest Thomas, sister Lucille Thomas Decker and his son, James Thomas.
Harley was a retiree from B & N Coal Company after which he and Margaret retired to Ft. Myers, FL where he was a member of the American Legion. Harley and Margaret enjoyed many happy years of fishing and spending time with numerous friends and extended family. Following the death of Margaret, Harley returned to Columbus where he resided with his daughter Ann and her husband, Bill Kinkead. He regularly attended Alum Creek Church of Christ.
Survived by children Ann (Bill) Kinkead, Rob (Kim) Thomas, daughter-in-law Pam Thomas Marhover, six grandchildren Erica Geiger (Dave Worster), Chris Thomas (Jennifer Simon), Chad (Aileen) Thomas, Jamie (Jason) Price, Tiffany (John) Thararuck, Melissa (Richard) Tirado, and eleven great-grandchildren Emily, Megan, Elizabeth, Taylor, Colin, Kian, Kade, Kylan, JJ, Chloe, and Summer, sister Glenna Thomas Close, as well as several beloved nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm, on Thursday, January 7th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial at Salem Township Cemetery. Friends may call from noon on Thursday until the hour of service. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
