Harriet E. (Wharff) Schneider

Harriet E. (Wharff) Schneider passed away Saturday afternoon November 28, 2009, at Marietta Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 12, 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Elizabeth (Cliff) Wharff, and was a graduate of Dexter City High School.

Harriet had worked at Gallaher's Drug Store and was an usherette at the Hippodrome Theatre in Marietta. During World War II, she was employed at the Sylvania Electric Plant. Later, Harriet was an employee of Marietta College.

Harriet was a member of Wagner Union Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Fellowship, and was a former member of both the Stanleyville Ladies Guild and Stanleyville Homemakers Club.

Survivors include one son, Gary Schneider (Julia) of Montgomery, Alabama; two daughters, Karen Schneider of Marietta, and Roberta Ward (Richard) of Reno; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Dean of California, Aaron Schneider, Hannah Hensley and Andrew Schneider, all of Florida, and Stephanie Ward and Seth Ward of Reno; four great-grandchildren, Allison, Lili, Shelby and Noah; and former daughter-in-law, Dorothy Schneider.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. Schneider, whom she married on January 17, 1943; her parents; sisters Lillian Brda and Ellen Mallett; and brothers, Donald Wharff and Arthur Wharff, Jr.

Services   will    be   held   at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with Pastor Gene Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Church Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4:00 pm on Tuesday until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
