Helen L. Annasenz

Helen L. Annasenz, 95, of Marietta, passed away on July 7, 2011, at 5:20 am at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 24, 1916, at Fairview, Illinois, a daughter of William H. and Myrtle Mahr Williard.  She graduated from Farmington High School with the class of 1934, and later from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing at Peoria, Illinois.  She was employed as a registered nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital for 40 years and also did private duty for many area families.  Mrs. Annasenz was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed flowers, watching birds, collecting Hummel figurines and egg cups and scrapbooking.

On December 24, 1938, she married Coach Robert G. “Bob” Annasenz who preceded her in death on December 6, 2009.  She is survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew:  Patty Miller of Ft. Wayne, IN, Louis Polito of West Bend, WI, Shirley Metz of Morton, IL, Barbara Siron of Morton, IL, Linda Beecham of Tremont, IL.  She is also survived by her dear friend, Gail Ulmer, and caregiver and friend, Nyla Carver.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (July 11) at 11:00 am at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Steven Mahaffey officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5-7.
