Herbert C. Cline, Jr.
Herbert C. Cline Jr. of Williamstown passed away on Saturday October 17, 2015 at the age of 89. Herb was born in Elizabeth, WV the oldest son of Herbert & Erma Cline.
He was a graduate of Williamstown High School in 1944 where he was a star on the Basketball team. He joined the Navy after High School and was stationed in the Philippine’s towards the end of the war.
Herbert started a Trucking company after the war in New York. He returned from NY to WV to work for American Cyanamid in Willow Island, WV. He worked for Cyanamid for 40 years.
He met his future wife, Mary Lee Blake Cline on return to WV. They were married and celebrated 62 years together. Herbert also is survived by his four children Herbert Craig (Christine) of Groton, MA, Robert of Parkersburg, Alan (Becky) of Apex, NC and Diana (Kevin) of Belpre. There are seven grandchildren Connor, Wesley, Natalie, Zack, Maggie, Kyle and Taryn and one great grandchild Teddy.
Herbert has surviving siblings Robert Cline (Barbara) of Marietta, Doris Griffin (Robert) of Columbus and Hope Keith of Marietta.
Funeral services will be held at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Tuesday morning (Oct. 20) at 10 AM with burial afterwards at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown.
