Ilene Jeanette Johns

Ilene Jeanette Johns (nee Carpenter) passed away Sat., Aug. 13,2011, in Lake City. FL.

Ilene was born April 30, 1933 in Marietta, OH daughter of Red & Virginia (nee Tucker) Carpenter. On October 24,1956 she married Robert Norman Johns, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Ilene made her home in Marietta until 1980. After retiring from Remington Rand, the family moved to St. Cloud, FL" She enjoyed her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. All of the neighborhood children called her Grandma, as they visited her often. She treated them to ice cream cones and cookies.

After her children were grown, Ilene went back to school, graduating from Gateway High School in 1994. She was so proud of her decision to return to school, to receive her diploma. She loved life and loved to sing, whistle and dance. Her favorite song was “Penny’s from Heaven" and her favorite saying was "Come on…. Let's Go."

She is survived by twin sister, Irene Jean Harris, Gallipolis, OH & younger sister, Kathryn Patterson, Springfield, OH, Her six children John (Joni) Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.VA., Jerald (Kathy) Carpenter of St. Cloud, Fl., Jolanda (Bill) Secoy of Lake City, Fl., Robert N. Johns II of St. Cloud, FL Jacqueline Blair, (Gary) of Ormond Beach Fl., Mary (Ronnie) Aderholt of Branford, Fl. 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband Bob, she is also preceded in death by grandson Jeremiah "Jeremy" Johns, and family friends Scott Blasdell and April Turner.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, August 19th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 pm Thursday until the hour of service.
